Imphal, city in eastern India, capital of Manipur state. It is a picturesque city, lying in the Manipur River valley. Imphal was the seat of the kings of Manipur before the region fell under British rule.

The products of household industries, including woven goods, brassware, and bronzeware, are collected from different parts of the state and marketed in Imphal.
